TIME TRAVEL 55 Takes a third look at Surrey Street Rodder Harold Martin’s cine film kicking off at the traditional UK Rodding season opener the SSR Wheelsday held at Slyfield on Good Friday 1982 including Paul Wright’s Kustom Volvo, Rob Stirling’s ‘39 Ford coupe, Richard Black’s track nosed C Cab etc...Then on to Gary’s Picnic where Nick the Greek’s A coupe, Neil Houghton’s T, Andy Harris’s Zephyr and the Pops of Dennis Boyle and Archie McDiarmed take to the strip. Next we visit the 3rd Internationals at Thruxton and a look at the Pops of Steve Fry, Phil Skoles, Jamie Campbell, Ron Keens, Ian Armstrong, Dave Harris, Mervyn King, Pete Moore, Hugh Shugs Hanchard and the rebuilt Berpop also Merv Barnett’s Ford pickup, Paul Wayling’s ‘39 Plymouth coupe, Andromeda, Revenge etc...Then we go to the 1982 NASC Nats at Knebworth including Bob Rocky Rothwell’s Y, Dave Finch’s Jethro ‘32 sedan, Ford Fever, Sexpensive etc.. Then it’s 1983 and back to the Thruxton Internationals as the Ken Stamp B pickup, Rapid Plumbing Husky, Winston’s Rover and Dave Harris’s Pop are put through their paces. Also there is Pete Fowler’s rebuilt Dirty 30 Model A. On to 1984 as Harold gets a lift in Dave Warren’s Jag powered Pop to the NSRA Stratford run and follows Bob Welstead’s ‘32 roadster up the Long Marston blacktop along with 16 other rods and customs. Then it’s the NSRA 12th fun run at Billing including Dave Haskell’s ‘34 coupe, Tony Thacker’s CC project ‘32 roadster, Tony Ham’s 4-door Y, Dale Edmond’s turtle deck T etc...Next the 1984 NASC Nats at Knebworth including Steve Dodds pro street Zodiac, Paul Wilson’s 27T, Eric Crones and Bob Vicker’s Ys etc... On to 1985 and back to Billing and a look at the 427 pro street Willys of Ian Dawes and Pete Wurmli’s ‘32 roadster then the 1985 Internationals at Kenilworth and a look at the blind drivers competition as Mid Sussex Rodders Rob Shorter and Chris Pinnard bring out their Prefect and Pop also Ian Armstrong has a go in his 300E and picks up the participant of the weekend trophy then a look at the top ten winners and the ZZ Top Eliminator coupe. Finally we visit the 1986 SSR Zoo Doo run at Chessington including Tom Newman’s Corsair and Malcolm Jay’s Humber high-riders, Jan Mathews’ T, Paul Kempton’s Pop coupe, Graham Wade’s Y coupe, Colin Jeffries’ ‘32 coupe and the Wisbech Engineering C Cab which heads for home with caravan in tow........
